Arrested Development: A Memorial Mar. 31st, 2006 @ 05:42 pm
As most of you (I would hope) may know, Mitch Hurwitz has said that he will not continue as the head-of-show for Arrested Development. What this means is that there will most likely be no more Arrested Development, not even on Showtime. Technically, there could be, but I'd rather it lay peacefully in its grave rather than have it bastardized by someone other than the very man who created the masterpiece.

So the other day, I was sitting at my cubicle, poring over word problems for algebraic expressions that five-year-olds could solve, and one involved eggs. Which made me think of hard-boiled eggs. Which made me think of Ann. Which made me think about how George Michael thought it was cute when she ate them. Which made me think of Michael calling her "Egg". I could continue, but basically I ran through a "Best of Egg!" montage in my head, which culminated in the fact that Gob slept with her.

Needless to say, I cracked up. At my desk, in my office that is quieter than a library. I was laughing so hard and so silently that tears began to form.

And that is the only way I can explain how much I loved AD. I'll miss it; but like Ron Howard said at the end of the finale: "It was Arrested Development." And it was fantastic

Ok, I know I haven't posted in 8 gagillion years, but rest assured that I am alive. Just busy.

I started at McGraw-Hill two weeks ago, and I'm still working at the rec center. That, coupled with the fact that I occasionally like to hang out with Matt, means that I rarely have time to surf the 'net, let alone post in my LJ. Here are a few things I would like to say:

1. I'm glad George Clooney won Best Supporting Actor.
2. Making real money makes me want to spend real money.
3. Matt graduates two weeks from today!
4. We haven't set a wedding date, mostly because I can't find a facility that doesn't make me want to vomit.
5. I'm reading Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. You all should too.
6. I am absolutely obsessed with my new job. The world of publishing is incredible.

That's it for the most part.

So yesterday was Valentine's Day. Matt got me a dual picture frame with a picture of the two of us, and a picture of me with my other boyfriend, Mickey Mouse. He said it's for my desk at work. How cute. He also got me a travel coffee mug (for my new job), a pepper grinder (as my old one is a bitch), an ice cream scooper (so I don't have to roll cookies anymore), and chocolate covered pretzels! He's the best.

Last night's episode of Gilmore Girls was pretty fantastic. I'm glad that I don't hate Logan as much as I once did; he's definitely growing on me. However, Luke is completely pissing me off. It's very obvious that Lorelai wants to be involved in the part of his life that now has a daughter. Also, I hate the long-lost daughter storyline. I'm sorry, but I do. I can think of a couple of ways that Luke could have a daughter that would have been 800% better. Chew on that, Amy Sherman-Palladino. Though, the scenes with Lorelai and Rory at the gym were priceless.

My new job begins in less than one week. I cannot wait! WOOOOOOOOOOO! This weekend I'm going new job shopping. It's like back-to-school shopping, but better. I'm going to buy some red pens and new clothes! I'm gonna be ready to mark the shit out of some proofs!

HELP ME BEFORE I HAVE A HEART ATTACK!!!! Feb. 13th, 2006 @ 11:16 am
Are any of you wedding planners, or wanna-be wedding planners, by chance? If so, help find me a venue in Columbus, OH!

Here are some things to think about:

- The venue must accomodate around 200 - 250 people (don't even get me started.)
- About 80% of the guests are traveling, so there must be hotels nearby. There must be several hotel options (I would prefer 3), ranging from expensive to inexpensive.
- About 50% the traveling guests will be flying in, so ideally the venue should be relatively close to Port Columbus Airport.
- I would prefer for the venue to have on-site catering, otherwise you're going to get another post from me freaking out about catering. I'm looking at about $25 per person (for 250 people) to $30 per person (for 200 people.) These prices do not include liquor.
- I would like to keep the rental cost under $2000.
- Matt wants a facility that offers an open bar. Preferably an open bar with options (call vs. premium liquor.)

That's all I can think of right now.

CAN YOU TELL I AM FREAKING OUT?! April 21, 2007 is coming up rather fast.

Apparently, because I signed up to pay my electric bill online I don't receive any more in the mail. That's annoying, because the bill in the mail is a good reminder. And I only signed up to pay online because I had accidentally thrown my bill away.

Hmmm.

So yesterday at work, this Asian kid (whose parents don't speak much English) came up to me and said, "Hola!" Then, after I scanned his card, he said, "Merci bocu."

That struck me as funny. That's all.

Having to wait two weeks until I start my new job is killing me. I want to start now.

I've been watching an hour of Full House every day. This is not healthy. I'm feeling extremely well adjusted and I feel the need to have heart to hearts with everyone. Not good. Obviously, I'm watching it right now. OOH! This is the episode where DJ falls asleep in Steve's apartment. HOT.

Lost should be good tonight.

For those who aren't as obsessed with television news as I am, Friday night is the Arrested Development finale. 2 hours. If I say any more, I may cry. It's such bullshit that Fox still hasn't officially cancelled it. Yada, yada, yada.

I wonder if Matt has watered his tree lately? Should I water it? He really likes this tree, and I paid for it, so I think I want to water it. Just in case. But what if I overwater it?

I've almost finished Sunday's crossword. I didn't start it until Monday, so it really only took 3 days. Then I'm moving on to the Super Duper Sudoku that was in the paper as well.

I'm so interesting.

Here's a really quick update on my life:

1. I was offered a position with McGraw-Hill as an assistant editor. I start February 21st!

2. Matt and I are getting married in April 2007.
» This is a Public Service Announcement:
It has come to my attention that a Scene It? game that was given to me as a gift in the holiday season has a question with an incorrect answer. According to Scene It?, there are only 3 Home Alone movies. However, I have just seen an ad for Home Alone 4 which is showing on ABC Family this week.

a) I didn't know there was a fourth Home Alone.
2) Why is there a fourth Home Alone?
d) I hate Hollywood.

I just puked a little in my mouth.
